We take great pride in presenting this FSM Education Network System (FENS) on the web for the benefit of the citizens of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). It provides general information on the status of education in the nation and other pertinent issues affecting education in the FSM.

We urge visitors to email us on any item on this website and allow us to improve on maintaining this website. Thank you.

The Department of Education, National Government, announces the availability of competitive scholarship for the undergraduate and graduate level students attending any accredited institutions of higher education (IHE) both locally and overseas.  The funds for the FSM Scholarships are usually appropriated annually by the FSM Congress out of the local revenue.  The scholarships are provided to qualified students in the Federated States of Micronesia. To learn more about the FSM National Scholarship, please visit scholarship homepage: http://www.fsmed.fm/home/index.php/scholarship.

The NDOE Media was created during fiscal period 2010 after the unit on Information & Technology (IT) created the NDOE Website, www.fsmed.fm; one of the most visited website in the Capital Compound in Palikir. Its primary objective then was to disseminate information on education to the public, using computer technology. Today, Secretary Rufino Mauricio opted to re-activate the NDOE Media to continue its primary objective with emphasis on strengthening and linking the NDOE with the school community to promote the national initiatives on teachers’ development, FSM School Accreditation System, National Minimum Competency Test (NMCT) and other major initiatives or sector priorities.  Currently, there are two series of division’s newsletter already circulated.

The purpose of education in the Federated States of Micronesia shall be to develop its citizens in order to prepare them for participation in self-government and economic and social development; to function as a unifying agent; to bring to the people a knowledge of their islands, the economy, the government, and the people who inhabit the islands; to preserve Micronesian culture and traditions; to convey essential information concerning health, safety, and protection of the island environment; and to provide its citizens with the social, political, professional and vocational skills required to develop the Nation.  To Learn more about the FSM Schools, please visit FSM School Profile: http://www.fsmed.fm/media-publication.

Title 40 of the FSM code requires that all schools in the FSM meet required minimum standards and undergo a process of accreditation. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure that all schools provide for students an environment that is conducive to learning. The FSM School Accreditation System is designed to help schools improve the educational services and opportunities they provide for students. The ultimate goal of the FSM School Accreditation System is to raise the level of student academic performance.
