The division of basic education and accreditation is responsible to administer national education programs that develops education standards, curriculum, assessment, teachers’ performance, data, school accreditation, and monitoring and evaluation of programs at national as well as the state levels for the purpose of accountability and reporting compliance. This division is also responsible for government student financial assistance and subsidies and contribution programs to the states and eligible applicants. These are the following programs that are administered under this division:
 
1.  School Accreditation Standards                                      
2.  Curriculum, Assessment and Research                      
3.  Bridging Gaps                                                                    
4.  FSM Teacher Certification                                               
5.  Early Childhood Education
6.  Post Secondary Scholarships and Student Services
7.  Information Technology and Education Information System
8.  Close – Up Program, Aid to Non Public School and Chartering of Non Public schools
9.  And other support services

This division is headed by a chief and with fourteen other specialists, coordinators, and support staff.
